About me? Well, first I’ll tell you who and what I am not. I am not a nutritionist. I am not a personal trainer. I do not have a degree in exercise science. So who am I? I was just a fat, middle aged woman who got on a bike.
I am a bodywork educator and practitioner and a professional writer, editor, and reviewer. I live in Tucson, Arizona with 3 cats. My loves are writing, bike riding, doing CrossFit, traveling, needlework, sewing, reading, animals, and being with friends.
I have been a professional massage therapist since 1991, a zen shiatsu practitioner since 1999, and a Thai massage practitioner since 2002. The Desert Institute of the Healing Arts in Tucson, Arizona is where I received certification in all these modalities. Additionally, I teach in massage therapy programs, and provide bodywork continuing education courses.
Prior to attending the Desert Institute of the Healing Arts I received a BA in biology, with a minor in applied writing, from Ithaca College in Ithaca, NY.
I mainly grew up in western New York state near Buffalo and Rochester, where is where I developed my healthy dislike of cold, snow, and gray skies. After I left New York, I lived in Dallas, Texas for a short time, then moved to Tucson, Arizona in 1987.
